I woke up this moring to rain, and the weather forcasts state 90% to 50% chances of rain showers throughout the day along the St. Croix River areas, which is exactly where the Flood Runners will be riding today.
It will not be a Flood Run day for me like I stated I was going to do today. The weather is not cooperating, and I am a fair weather rider. The ride follows the St. Croix river, which seperates Minnesota, and Wisconsin for the majority of Minnesota. This is precisely, where for the last few days, we have had a wet pattern stall out due to the jet stream remaining far North. It's not pushing the storms through, so they are just kind of stalling out here. Bummer. I'll try to ride a bit today a little closer to home. I've not had much good luck with this run in the past. When I risk bad weather, I hit it. When I stay home due to bad weather, it decides to only tease of it, and I hear some of my buddies say, "you should have come, it was great."
Anyway, it's early in the year still. Plenty of good riding ahead yet.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your weather woes. Harley and I were lucky here and enjoyed about seven hours of food riding yesterday. I'll try to post about some of it later today. Your right, it's just the beginning of the season, and if you missed out now, there will be plenty more opportunities still to come! Lady R
ReplyDeleteThey say if you're gonna ride, then you're gonna end up riding in the rain. They're right. It sucks though. It's one thing to go on a run and have some rain catch you unexpectedly, but when it's already there, I keep her in the garage. It's not the getting wet part I mind so much, it's the added danger, and the two+ hours of cleaning I know I'll be in for.

ReplyDeleteI am going to do a bit of riding today. I talked to a friend who lives around the areas where the Flood Runners go. He did not ride either, as it was raining when he woke up. We were going to ride together. He said he only saw a total of about 6 bikes around his house the whole day. Granted he is a ways North of the run, but usually sees over a hundred bikes on one day just residual from the run.

I'd have attempted the run yesterday, but I just got the bike all cleaned up, and ready for the ride, and like you say. It was raining before I left.
Plus, it only topped out in the low 50's here. Imagine what a cold wet ride that would have been.
