My wife and I for what ever reason, for likely the last 6 months have argued about weather or not the 123456789101112 thing was from Sesame Street of Electric Co. I said Electric Co, she said Sesame Street. She was right again. I searched it out and found a YouTube video of it, and it is clearly Sesame Street.

I used to watch Sesame Street everyday! My favorite was the Chef coming down the steps with pastries in arms in the amount of the featured number. His falling with all his pies or cakes or whatever, would just make me howl in laughter.

Seems like counting to 10 would've been the more logical choice.

By the way, I found out why my wife could so confidently say she was right and I was wrong. She told me that Of course I watched Sesame Street as a kid, and so did she, but she also watched the 123456789101112 video over and over with our two children, and there was no electric company when the kids were born, so it had to be Sesame Street.

I grew up with Popeye. But he boys grew up with Sesame Street. I think 12 was getting past 10. My youngest first sat down to watch a show and it was this one. I remember well because the number for the day was 12 and the word for the day was "NO!". I think it was the word that got him. That is when I noticed the show and it's learning potential

Oh yeah, 70's over-load for sure. I remember having a choice of 6 channels to watch. The what-used-to-be-called "Big 3," PBS, and two channels (38 & 56) on something they used to call "UHF." On Saturday afternoons in the 70's, Ch. 56 ran the "Creature Double-Feature," running all the cheesy old American International Pictures horror movies from the 50s, along with the Godzilla series.
ReplyDeleteIt was great, even though every time you changed the channel you had to mess with the 'rabbit ears' on top of the TV. My old man used to get pissed if I dared to open the little panel on the side of the TV and adjust the VERT and HORIZ HOLD knobs. That got me a red ear a few times!
Not so great for us kid was if the President was on TV, you were screwed! Kids today have NO CLUE how lucky they are - and they still bitch that there's "nothing" on TV!!!
Ahh, the memories. And to add to Joker's about the channels...I remember having to change the channel with pliers.
