I live at 1 Frozen place in, Minnesota, United States
My real name is Mark. For many years now my wife has called me Mr. Motorcycle. When I started my Blog I was looking for a catchy blog name, so I went with it. I'm happily married and I'm also a father of 6 children. I have two human offspring, one dog, two cats and one custom Harley. I believe that makes 6 children. When I'm not doing my real full time job, or going for a ride, I like to do art, custom paint jobs, and of course BLOG. If you would like to contact me, my e-mail address is phonetically spelled for avoiding spammers. (I actually do use the number 1 in the beginning.) 1mrmotorcycleATgmailDOTcom

"Kenny" started life as a stock '97, 883 Sportster. It's been a work in progress since the day I bought it many years ago. Its mostly custom with a built, "slightly juiced up" 1200 motor.
The Metal Fabrication, bodywork and custom paint was done by me.

How the Hell did I come up with a name like Kenny for my bike you ask?...... Most people who name their rides, go with chick names. I of course had to be different. I think bikes look tough, cool and masculine; not feminine. Plus, my father "Ken" has helped make me who I am today. Therefore with a little twist on the name, my bike was named "Kenny".

Three things I know about women.

Joker recently posted http://harley-davidson-mystique.blogspot.com/2008/06/say-hi-to-keeley.html Quote" I'd be home bonding with my two boys. I also missed a ride up to Bub's Barbecue this morning. Some times you just have to take one for the team - if you don't want to find all your stuff scattered all over your front lawn and driveway anyway."End quote.

I comment Joker for this, but it reminds me of the three things I know about women.

1) If she is happy, I am happy.

2) If she aint happy, aint no one happy.

and.....

3) If she aint happy for a really long time, I aint happy with half my sh*t!

But seriously, I make time for my family and give up riding time quite oftern because as much as I love motorcycles, riding and the biker brotherhood, I love my wife, kids, and family more than anything in the world.

O.K., I'm done being mushy now.

You forgot #4 - What's hers is hers, and what's mine is hers! LOL! I have a funny cartoon that touches on this subject, but I've not posted it because it's kind of mean to the men. But, I think I may post it anyway, to go along with this story. Maybe I'll post it later while I'm "home for lunch." LOL again!

Lady R - my wife's version is "What's yours is mine, and what's mine is mine."

Family has to be number one. There are times that it could be argued that I ride "too much," especially on those weekends where there's a ride on both Saturday and Sunday. As long as I make up for that lost time on weekdays/nites and on the weekends where there's only 1 ride or no rides at all, there's no problem. It's all about balance. I'm very lucky my wife is cool about it.

How about... what's mine is mine and we live together with it all... love that.
Glad you have a life that works. That's all that matters.

The struggle between riding and family is a very real one, especially if there are small children involved. But it sounds like you are doing a good job keeping the priorities in there proper places.

What's mine is mine and what's his is mine! That's what I always say! :)

It's very difficult at times to keep things balanced, but he tries!

To all who commented:
Thanks for all the laugh backs on this one, and all the seriousness that surrounds it too in making family time.

Lady R,
I'm posting this comment after reading your post today (6-25-08). way funny. I'm sharing a link to it today!

Joker,
I'm glad your wife is cool like mine. Like you, my wife does not participate in the biker world I live in, but she is really cool, as long as I make family time.

Rick,
I see you have found balance within your family. Your boys ride with you. I envy that.

Ann,
Too funny.

Ann, I found Big D's blog the other day through comments. I didn't even know he blogged. Way cool. I'll be checking in on it, I've added to my RSS Reader list.

KT Did, and Sarch,
Where have you been all my life? LOL! Glad you popped in to read and comment. I've checked out your blogs, and added to my RSS Reader list. We'll talk to you all later!

All very good points. But for RC and me, it's just the two of us so riding together IS family time! :-D Our biggest itch is who has more mileage on their bike... Jay just got his bike last August and he's already got 9000 miles on her, I've had mine for 3 years and just hit 5000. I will never catch up! :-(

MM: Very cool that you found Big D's blog. However, he hasn't blogged in a while...I'm trying to get him started again. Maybe if he knows people are interested, he'll share some stories with us!

Go back to the early stories and take a look. He writes biker fiction, and the first 6 chapters are on his blog. He's now trying to finish the book so he can publish it. :)

Ann, and Big D.,
You gotta let me know when the book gets published! Even if it doesn't, sneak me a back door copy!

Mrs RC,
I was just at your blog. Read a comment Jay left me about it would be nice if we all had bar hoppers and touring bikes.

I know you and Jay ride together. That is great. I envy that, but my wife doesn't ride so I choose the bar hopper, cause long touring rarely happens in my life. I do go for some long rides though, and have to grunt through the uncomfortable times, or take more frequent rests.
