I live at 1 Frozen place in, Minnesota, United States
My real name is Mark. For many years now my wife has called me Mr. Motorcycle. When I started my Blog I was looking for a catchy blog name, so I went with it. I'm happily married and I'm also a father of 6 children. I have two human offspring, one dog, two cats and one custom Harley. I believe that makes 6 children. When I'm not doing my real full time job, or going for a ride, I like to do art, custom paint jobs, and of course BLOG. If you would like to contact me, my e-mail address is phonetically spelled for avoiding spammers. (I actually do use the number 1 in the beginning.) 1mrmotorcycleATgmailDOTcom

The photo above is my ride :
"Kenny" started life as a stock '97, 883 Sportster. It's been a work in progress since the day I bought it many years ago. Its mostly custom with a built, "slightly juiced up" 1200 motor.
The Metal Fabrication, bodywork and custom paint was done by me.

How the Hell did I come up with a name like Kenny for my bike you ask?...... Most people who name their rides, go with chick names. I of course had to be different. I think bikes look tough, cool and masculine; not feminine. Plus, my father "Ken" has helped make me who I am today. Therefore with a little twist on the name, my bike was named "Kenny".

They're Here!

Those pesky little white things falling from the sky.

As much as I love the beauty of a good snow fall, I always have mixed feelings in the beginning. The first few snow falls of the year bring with it the reminder of its beauty and a little bit of childish excitement. At the same time a bit of sadness comes because I know that this is the beginning to an end of a riding season for us frozen state dwellers.

Hell, just yesterday, someone asked me if I had my bike winterized. I replied, "I don't see any snow and ice yet do you?"

Well, they are here. Those pesky little white things.

Anyway, I'm stubborn, and I know that there is plenty good chance for a few more good rides, if the snow doesn't hang around here too long. This is after all the third time it has snowed here this year, and we've had many 70 degree days since the last two snowfalls. I'm hoping for a few more when this one get done.

I need long term proof that Mother Nature isn't letting up on her winter wrath before I call it quits for the season.

I've said it before. If people can ride snowmobiles in the winter even though it's cold, why can't I ride my motorcycle, as long as the roads permit.

That's a beautiful picture. As for riding in the winter...as long as the roads are safe, why not?

I think you should ride in the snow. Get the right gear and just do it! I wanna see picts. I'll even go ride in the snow just to support your efforts! *(I get to wear a full face helmet though. agreed?)

Mr. M,

As I sit here writing this I watch as the first snow flakes of the year fall here in Iowa. The ground and streets are a bit to warm for it to stick around. Which is a good thing since I rode to work in the rain again today!

FLHX, yes a full face helmet is allowed. In fact it almost mandatory.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! Snow is a 4-letter word! The last time I dealt with snow was almost 4 years ago at my Dad's funeral...not good. I hate that white stuff!

Pretty from a distance, though! :)

You be careful in that stuff. Darn black ice is our enemy and it sneaks up easy in shady spots. I'm all about riding in cold weather, but getting cautious about rain, ice, etc.

Lived in NY for 24 yrs. Snow? Never cared. Car tires make ruts plenty wide enough for a bike. Of course that was then, this is now.I'll stick to the west coast in winter from now on.

"A beautiful sight... I'm happy tonight.. Walking in a winter wonderland." Woo Hoo! Sorry, got carried away there. Seeing as how you like to put tunes in peoples heads, I thought I would return the favor! ;]

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I just can't help it. LOL!

Harley and I will ride today and take in the autumn colors. Our leaf peeping days are good right now, but will be gone soon.

While I'm riding today, I'll think of you up in Minnesooooota there, with all that snoooow, ya knoooow.

B.B.,
Thanks, and why not?

FLHX Dave,
I'd get you pictures, but I don't ride while it's snowing or when snow is on the road. Too dangerous for me. I don't even own a full face helmet. I use a face mask for extra warmth when cold.

Fasthair,
I hope you made it home O.K. with the snow.

Ann,
I feel the same about Arizona heat. Pretty from a distance. I want no part of riding in temps over 90 to 100 plus degrees. We get about two to three weeks on average of 90 plus degree weather here during the summer. I usually park the bike as if it was snowing. Not even fun. I guess it's all what you are acclimated to.

Allen Madding,
Good tips, and reminders of black ice! Be sure to watch out for those layers of wet fall leaves on the roads too!

Willy D,
"Snow? Never cared. Car tires make ruts plenty wide enough for a bike." LOL! You must have been nuts, or still are! .)~

Lady turd Ridesalot,
A TURD returned the favor! ;]

"A beautiful sight... I'm happy tonight.. Walking in a winter wonderland." LMFAO!

Our fall colors are done:(

I totally agree about not riding in the 90+ degree heat. Here in Texas we don't need winter storage, but I do utilize summer storage. I put less miles on my ride in July and August than any other months of the year except maybe January. I don't like wearing jeans and a helmet in the heat. But now is prime time, 50's in the morning, 70's in the afternoon.

Oops! I wondered if you saw that. Don't worry, from me, it's a turd.. I mean term of endearment! LOL!

Now it's here! See what you've done.

Oh I so don't want snow yet! In Boston it was 70 this weekend. Keep the snowy weather out there. At least till Christmas! Then we will have made the official transfer to winter!

TRT,

riding in the 70's is perfect. You can still wear protective riding gear without getting hot, and it's not cold either.

Lady R.,
Turd of endearment

Webster World,
Sorry, but it was snowin here, thought I'd share the love.

Jody P.,
I'd love to hold off till just a day or two before X-mas. Luckily, it's all melted. I here more in the near forecast.
